The BYU Cougars (0-1) traveling to Knoxville in Week two for a showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers (0-1). Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM EST on Saturday, September 7th in Neyland Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN.
Earlier this week tennessee opened as a home favorite. As the Vols are listed in -3, that point has to proceed after ancient gambling. The total for your game is currently sitting at 51 points.
BYU could not find a way to emerge victorious at the”Holy War” from Utah in Week 1 despite trailing by just a field goal at halftime. The Utes came from scoring 3 touchdowns, that the second half to set the game on ice.
BYU QB Zach Wilson could not find any consequences against a tough Utah shield, throwing for just 208 yards and getting picked twice — one had been returned for a touchdown.
RB Ty’Son Williams established BYU on the floor with just a bit of a spark , running for 45 yards and a touchdown. Matt Bushman also gave a good attempt, catching 6 balls for 62 yards. BYU offense could not sustain any offense and was able to score just 12 points.
BYU did a wonderful job defensively in the first half against Utah, holding the offense to just 3 points. They began to give a little down the stretch, as Utes RB Zach Moss put on a show en route to a 187 yard, one touchdown performance.
Tennessee also fell to 0-1 on the year last weekend, despite being preferred by 26 points, losing a shocker.
The Vols jumped out to an early 14-7 lead at the first quarter because the Panthers rallied to recover the lead prior to closing out the win heading into the 4th quarter but it was and then.
Tennessee QB Jarrett Guarantano had a match, heading 26/40 to get two touchdowns throwing to one interception and 311 passing yards.
He had a whole lot of help from wide receiver Jauan Jennings, that lit up the Georgia State leading for 108 yards and a touchdown. Tennessee crime looked aside from 3 turnovers, racking up nearly 400 total yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Georgia State was able to pull off a gigantic upset in Week 1 due to the Volunteers horrific drama on defense. Tennessee gave up 350 yards, which while not appearing to be too significant, nevertheless resulted in five Panthers touchdowns.
Tennessee couldn’t set themselves at stopping the run. Georgia State had three Georgia State rushers to get the end zone.
I don’t have a whole lot of confidence in both of these programs heading into Week two. I think that the Vols reduction against Georgia State was more of an exception and not the rule.
I believe that was not an indictment of this Vols talent and a shocking lack of preparation. That said Tennessee is the team, playing prime time in Neyland Stadium.
